New Adult Training and Wellness Center
Construction on the new 43,000 s.f. Sharon Moone-Jochums Center for Training and Wellness is complete and the facility opened to our consumers on January 7. The facility had a formal dedication ceremony on December 5. The building formerly housed Harvest Foods, and more recently, David Claiborne Antiques and is located approximately 3 miles west of our main campus on Cantrell Road. The center has a 3,000 s.f. wellness area with equipment to help our adults become more physically fit and active. New, larger classrooms and two technology rooms allow for better instructional opportunities. A large independent living skills classroom features 4 kitchens and washers and dryers. The center has a social leisure classroom, an art room, a library, and two additional classrooms for individuals who need more structured instruction. Vocational kitchen skills training will be provided in our industrial kitchen, adjacent to the large 80 seat dining room. The rear third of the building is devoted to vocational training with the expansion of our RENEW Recycling Program, which provides secure document destruction services and a large subcontract work area. The building is named in honor of Sharon Moone-Jochums, who has served as the President and CEO of Easter Seals since 1991.
Windstream Donates Bikes to Children's Rehabilitation Center!
Thank you Windstream! Chris Campbell’s sales team assembled four bicycles as a team building exercise. They chose to give the ready-to-ride bikes to the Children’s Rehabilitation Center. The children often go on outings to ride across the Big Dam Bridge.
Maddye used her iPad to say thank you to the group and tell them how much she loves bike riding.
Windstream is an Easter Seals Corporate Partner and the company’s Chief Information Officer, Cindy Nash, serves as Secretary for the Easter Seals Board of Directors.
RENEW Recycling Program

Easter Seals Arkansas’ recycling program, RENEW, gives adults with disabilities the opportunity to be employed while also helping our community go green. Collecting and then sorting, shredding and baling all types of office paper and cardboard, the program provides meaningful work and a paycheck to the participating adults.
RENEW plans to secure at least 100 contracts in the Central Arkansas area so that more adults have the opportunity to work. Together, RENEW and Central Arkansas businesses are providing adults with disabilities the opportunity to be successful while creating a greener, healthier and more efficient community for all of us to live in.
If you would like to learn more about RENEW or if you would like an on-site review of your recycling needs, please contact John Baldwin at 501-367-1204 or at jbaldwin@eastersealsar.com.
