Harrison Luther Hardin was born to Avie and Scooter Hardin on October 10, 2010 (10-10-10) at 26 weeks gestation, weighing 2 lb 2 oz. Immediately, the neonatal team at UAMS implemented a specific plan for his stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Harrison was diagnosed soon after birth with a bilateral grade three brain bleed. Doctor’s explained the potential impact of the bleed: delayed development of both fine and gross motor skills. Due to several weeks spent on a ventilator, Harrison was also diagnosed with chronic lung disease. The world-class care Harrison received at UAMS allowed him to go home after a 93 day stay in the NICU in January 2011. Due to his prematurity and his bleed, a therapist from Easter Seals Arkansas, Liane Meadors, began working with Harrison soon after he returned home from UAMS.
Harrison was accepted into Easter Seals A Child's Place Pre-School program, where he started in August 2011. Harrison has made tremendous progress since enrolling. He loves listening to stories and painting.  He enjoys fishing with his dad and riding on tractors.
From 2 pounds to 34 pounds now, Harrison is a very happy and healthy boy due to an amazing team both at UAMS and Easter Seals. Harrison had a will to live and thrive as a baby that can be seen through him today. He loves his life and is blessed to have so many people that love and care for him at Easter Seals.
